The Commission on Water Resource Management:   The Commission administers the State Water Code, which was created by the 1987 Hawaii State Legislature. The Water Commission's general mission is to protect and enhance the water resources of the State of Hawaii through wise and responsible management.

Hawaii Department of Health: Safe Drinking Water Branch:   The mission of the Safe Drinking Water Branch of the Department of Health is to safeguard public health by protecting Hawaii's drinking water sources from contamination and assure that owners and operators of public water systems provide safe drinking water to the community.

WaterSense:   WaterSense is a partnership program sponsored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Its mission is to protect the future of our nation's water supply by promoting and enhancing the market for water-efficient products and services.

Environmental Protection Agency: Office of Ground Water and Drinking Water:   This is the EPA's web site all about drinking water. The EPA sets standards to control the level of contaminants in the nation's drinking water. The Safe Drinking Water Act, passed in 1974 and amended in 1986 and 1996, gives the Environmental Protection Agency the authority to set drinking water standards.

Hawaii USGS Home Page:   The Hawaii office of the United State Geological Survey tracks stream flow and groundwater levels around the state. See Maui's water levels and other information about our water resources. There is also information on the importance of fog drip in our forests.

National Weather Service: Weather Forecast Office, Honolulu, Hawaii:   Check out the latest weather watches and warnings, public forecasts, weather observations, hydrology, and rainfall data for Maui County and the State of Hawaii.

American Water Works Association:   The American Water Works Association (AWWA) is an international, non-profit scientific and educational society dedicated to the improvement of drinking water quality and supply. Founded in 1881, AWWA is the largest organization of water supply professionals in the world.

American Water Works Association, Hawaii Section:   The AWWA Hawaii Section is the local organization dedicated to keeping our state's drinking water clean and safe.

NSF International:   NSF International, the Public Health and Safety Company, is an independent, not-for-profit organization that develops standards in many areas, including water. NSF tests and certifies water treatment chemicals and distribution system components. Check out their site for more information on water quality and public health issues.
